Machine Casting Lead Sheets - The Direct Method

The ‘Direct Method’ of machine casting Lead sheet dates from the 1800’s and was more recently developed to provide the sheet Lead so widely used today.

Still somewhat of a black art, a cooled roller immersed in a bath of molten Lead produces continuous sheet.

Balancing flow rates, roll speed, and temperatures allows the production of a variety of thicknesses and textures. The sheet is then slit to form rolls of an infinite variety of lengths and widths to suit the customers’ needs.
