Radiation shielding installations in hospitals are essential for protecting patients, medical staff, and the public from the harmful effects of ionising radiation—particularly in areas used for diagnostic imaging and radiology procedures. Below is an overview of the products and systems we supply and install to support these critical environments.

Lead Lined Plasterboard & Plywood

At our Barnsley manufacturing facility, we bond lead sheet to a wide range of plasterboards and plywood to meet project-specific requirements. We can bond lead thicknesses ranging from 1mm to 7mm, suitable for installation on walls, floors, and ceilings.

All lead used is milled-manufactured to BS EN 12588 standards. Our standard board size is 2400mm x 600mm, although bespoke sizes up to 3 metres in length can be produced upon request.

Lead Chevron Rail System

Where shielding requirements exceed 7mm lead thickness, we offer our proven lead chevron brick system. These extruded lead bricks are manufactured in-house and installed on site using our specialist system, ensuring complete shielding integrity.

Chevron rails can be extruded in thicknesses ranging from 10mm to 50mm, making them ideal for high-radiation environments.

Service Penetration Shielding

Once walls and ceilings are lined, service penetrations are often required. We provide a range of tailored shielding solutions to ensure these penetrations remain fully protected and free from radiation leakage.

Lead Lined Doors

We supply and install a comprehensive range of lead lined doors, available in a wide variety of finishes and with fire certification where required. Options include:

• Integral blinds
• Integrated radiation warning lights

Lead Glass Windows

Our product range also includes lead equivalent glass and lead lined frames, which can be supplied and installed in a variety of finishes to suit clinical and architectural requirements.

Lead Lined Operator Screens

We supply and install free-standing lead lined operator screens to protect staff from X-ray exposure in hospitals, dental practices, and other clinical settings. Screens are available in a range of colours and lead thicknesses from 1.32mm to 5mm.
